The transfer portal has been working wonders for A&T, as former Virginia Tech Hokie Robert Porcher IV decides to make Aggie Land his home. The 41st defensive end in the class of 2017, was a 3 star recruit coming out of Orlando, Florida and was as a man amongst boys. In highschool Porcher was completely unblockable as he broke his school's career sack record with 31, having 17 sacks and 40 TFL his senior season at Dr. Phillips Highschool.

Porcher looks to make a big impact on the Aggies defense alongside Jermaine McDaniels, Devin Harrell, ECU transfer Tagg Bullock, and other notable rising sophomores.

The transfer portal has been so gracious to A&T football: whether its former linebacker Antoine Wilder and WR Korey Banks transferring from South Carolina, Porcher and DJ Crossen transferring from Virginia Tech or Former Pittsburgh running back and 4 star recruit Michael Salahuddin announcing in December that he would be transferring.

Standing at 6'2 and weighing at 275 pounds will not only be a big body on the line that will stuff the run, but has good quickness and athleticism, and can get to the QB with a variety of pass rushing moves or pure strength. He is obviously highly productive while on the field as he said 17 sacks as a defensive tackle. Yes I said 17

Porcher adds great depth on the defensive line where he should dominate as soon as he dawns the blue and gold, as he already comes in with relevant college football experience playing in 16 games recording 16 total tackles and two sacks over the past two seasons.

What makes this pick up for the Aggies even sweeter is that Porcher is the son of Robert Porcher III, a former three-time Pro Bowl selection and South Carolina State legend. Porcher III played 12 seasons in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions.

According to sources Porcher was frustrated with his lack of playing time and that he could get more playing opportunities elsewhere. Porcher was locked in at looking to play at a lower-profile school.

In 2018, Porcher's former defensive line coach Charley Wiles describes him as "(Robert) is a guy who has good football instincts, he’s got a knack, he can sense things. He’s a little bit more athletic than you give him credit for. Obviously, he played defensive end and tackle in high school so I think Robert with added strength and added experience will continue to improve, you know."

During that offseason Porcher underwent shoulder surgery, but coming up next season he will be 2 years removed from his injury as he should be even stronger than he was before.

When you watch Porcher on tape what separates Porcher from most DT is two things. Quickness and athleticism. Porcher should come in day one and be an first team All MEAC selection and a anchor on a championship defense for years to come
