You would think that black man would feel safe from the evils of police brutality on a campus full of his own. False. You would think that the student body as a whole would rally behind a victim of such egregious actions. False. How could a black man who could have been in a victims shoes have the lack of empathy to tell twitter “He WaS ReSiStINg?” The answer is simple complete ignorance.

I awoke at 6 in the morning, and got on twitter per my usual routine. But what I saw made me wish I never unlocked the phone, as a video being recorded of sophomore president Verdant Julius being arrested and brutalized by NCAT police made my stomach drop. If UPD would do this to a face of this campus, there is no telling what they would do to me.

This happens every year. I’m sick and tired of it. Every year something happens but yet nothing is done. I should have expected this when it comes to A&T and it’s lack of accountability, but what I did not expect are the coons defending UPD. Twitter has been in a uproar with mostly alumni and students coming to the aid of Mr. Julius, but of course there are those who feel other wise and it’s sickening.

From my ex favorite football player arguing with Twitter followers to even a friend of mine defending UPD I can not believe y‘all would turn your back on your own people. What’s even worst is the “pick me’s” and “yes man’s” in the comments egging him on. I surely thought that as black people, and black men specifically that we have an universal understanding of our relationship with the police.

But it looks like some have crossed to the other side
