North Carolina A&T's defensive backfield is absolutely loaded. With All American Mac McCains injured this week, freshman DB Miles Simon out of Hibriten high school in Lenoir, NC will get his chance to show the whole MEAC just what he is made of. I already know that kid can ball. So if you're sleep on Mr. Simon then wake up now because we might have a future pro on our hands.

On tape, Miles Simon's elite ball skills light up the screen. He has a nose for the football and seems to always be at the right place at the right time. Simon has incredible hands for a DB. And when he gets the ball he knows exactly what to do with it.

Don't believe me? As a junior in his first year on varity Simon racked up 6 interceptions in only 14 games. The next season as a senior Simon's production sky rocketed with him finishing his high school career with 10 interceptions, (3 returned for TD's), 62 tackles and 9 passes defended; which earned him an invitation to play in the North Carolina-South Carolina Shrine Bowl.

What makes Miles Simon one of my favorite A&T Aggie is just how versatile of a player he is. Yes Simon is able to play safety or corner but as an offensive threat, he had 331 yards receiving and six touchdowns in his high school career plus three career rushing touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball Simon can cover like a certified corner or come up to the line to get physical and stuff the run. This guy is a coaches dream. A defensive back that catches like a reciever? I need him on my team! While, yes Simon has high football IQ, the intangibles, and great mechanics but the kid is a pure athlete too!

As a track athlete, he qualified for the state finals in the 110-meter hurdles. With that jumping ability 50/50 balls are really 70/30 with Simon with the advantage. Simon has good size for a safety standing at 6'0 and weighing 190 pounds.

I truly believe as a freshman, Simon could make a tremendous impact for the Aggies defense. Sitting and learning behind veterans such as Timadre Abrams and Mac McCain will only benefit Miles Simon and make him a better player and a future all conference performer

I can't wait to see how Simon progresses through the years. Already a very solid player he will only get better with age. So watch out A&T! Because we have a Ed Reed clone on campus.
