If North Carolina A&T was only able to land one of the Williams twins they would be more than happy; so landing both Tim and Chris Williams had the Aggies singing praises on signing day. Chris a hard hitting linebacker while Tim is a pancake machine of a offensive lineman and both will soon set the MEAC a blaze. Coming out of Laurinburg, North Carolina Double Trouble will join their former Scotland County teammates Karfa Kaba and Amir McNeil.
“When I first got there for my visit it felt like home, a family atmosphere. Everyone seemed to care about each other and had each other’s back. I loved it out there," Chris said.
It just worked out that way that Chris and I ended up going to the same place,” Tim said. “I felt like it was a family culture and they were going to accept me in. I could come in and really get things going.”
The Williams twins are not only amazing on the field, but also in the classroom with both brothers graduating with outstanding GPA's. Tim Graduated with a 4.4 grade point average, while Chris graduated with a 4.6 Double Trouble both plan on majoring in engineering — Tim plans to focus on electrical engineering while Chris will pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
In their senior season Chris and Tim lead the Scots to a 12-2 record overall and a 7-0 mark in the Sandhills Athletic Conference. The Scots played in the 4-A state championship game where they lost to Harding. Chris was a three-year starter and leader for the Fighting Scots defense. The 6'1 225 pound linebacker was named the SAC-8 Defensive Player of the Year. He led the Scots with 107 solo tackles, 12 for a loss, two sacks, two caused fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
"The leader of our defense, one of the smartest football players I’ve ever coached,” said Scots head coach Richard Bailey. “Coach Johnson said he’s the smartest one he’s ever coached. Without a doubt one of the best defensive players I’ve ever had."
At the linebacker position Chris Williams can do it all, blitzing quarterbacks, stuffing the run and even dropping back in coverage. I would love to have Chris Williams be the leader of my defense. He has very high football IQ, never gives up on the play and w hen blockers manage to get a hand on him he has moves and strength to shed blocks. Chris can make a big time impact for the Aggies in the near future at the linebacker position.
Tim Williams high school tape it looks like a horror film. All you see is a 6'2 300 pound athletic big man bulldozing and pancaking helpless weaker defenders. A member of The Fighting Scots offensive line Williams was a two-time all-conference selection. Behind Tim and the rest of the offensive line, the Scots offense racked up 5,532 rushing yards, 990 passing yards and 93 touchdowns. Big Nasty Williams is a tremendous run blocker, possessing the quickness and athleticism to pull on a block or get into the second level of the defense. He is also a very good pass blocker, showing the ability to slow down speedy pass rushers.
“He’s really improved as a player over the years. He always had size, but he really fine tuned his craft between his junior and senior year and just had an unbelievable year for us,” said Bailey. “Tim has been a great player for us, but the biggest thing is he’s been a great kid. It’s always refreshing to not have to worry about if a kid is eligible or going to do the right things in the school building. You can’t speak enough about the person, but on top of that he’s a great player.”
