NC A&T DB Mac "PRIME TIME McCain III HAS NFL TALENT [HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED]

 The best corner back in college football plays for North Carolina A&T  and his name is Mac McCain III.  Franklin “Mac” McCain is an elite talent and will be a cornerstone of the NC A&T football dynasty for years to come. Last season as a Red shirt Freshman McCain was one of the most impactful  corners in all of college football. For those interested looking to find the next Tarik Cohen -- a former FCS superstar ready to exceed expectations in the NFL – his Alma mata North Carolina A&T has several candidates. McCain is one of them, maybe the best of them.

If the last name sounds familiar, it is because McCain’s grandfather was famous civil rights icon Franklin McCain. On February 1, 1960, McCain along with three other N.C. A&T students sat down at a lunch counter at Woolworth’s in Greensboro, NC and were refused service. When asked to leave, the four remained in their seats. Their resistance and peaceful sit-down demand helped ignite a youth-led movement to challenge racial inequality throughout the South. They are known as the Greensboro Four

McCain III , a red shirt sophomore from Dudley High school is a big time playmaker, a complete corner who covers and tackles. Chasing down running backs and laying the hammer on receivers. McCain routinely makes the biggest plays in the most critical moments of games also. McCain will lock-down his side of the field and your best receiver. He has good football instincts, amazing speed breaking on the ball, high football IQ  and good size at 5’11. By himself, McCain III can completely wreck a game. 

In 2017 as a red shirt freshman Mac McCain immediately showed MEAC fans that he was already the best corner back in the conference. Against FBS school UNCC Charlotte. McCain and A&T played In front of a record crowd of 19,651 at Jerry Richardson Stadium in Charlotte, NC. It’s a slug fest, both teams are fighting for their lives. Somebody needs to make a play. Charlotte is driving down the field down 28-25 at the 40 yard line with 35 seconds left.

The 49'ers Quarterback Hasaan Klugh drops back, fires a pass to the right side and then SWOOP there goes McCain using his blazing speed breaking on the ball and intercepting the pass for his 2nd pick of the game and taking it the distance for a 74 yard touchdown. Clinching the game giving  North Carolina A&T a  35-25 win in a upset over the 49ers.

And then the  legend of Mac McCain III begins. Just the following week McCain would have his most electrifying game of the season. In the Aggies win over the Morgan State Bears Mac McCain started off the night with a 100 interception returned for a touchdown. Unfortunately for MSU Mac was far from done; with McCain grabbing 2 more interceptions, one being a 78 yard pick six and the other being a clutch pick with Morgan State in their red zone.

Like I said earlier big time players make big time plays, and Mac McCain showed up in the clutch once again in the 2017 celebration bowl picking off a pass in the end zone, saving a touchdown in A&T’s victory over Grambling State.After a season in which McCain had 14 passes defended, 50 tackles, and 6 INT's for 274 YDS and 3 TD’s McCain earned numerous honors. Such as FCS FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICAN, HERO SPORTS FCS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR , FCS JERRY RICE FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR FINALIST, FIRST-TEAM ALL CONFERENCE and  CELEBRATION BOWL DEFENSIVE MVP
